In the opening scene of the blockbuster movie Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott – a huge alien with a disc shaped craft flying over head, consumes this strange substance and he begins to disintegrate into the waters. With the craft above and the alien falling into the water it seems the writer is attempting to mimic the biblical creation account when it was said “the spirit of God hovered over the waters” Gen 1:2“The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”The next scene has the alien’s DNA breakdown and with the addition of time begins to evolve into basic life forms and eventually into mankind. The technical name for this idea is Directed Panspermia. Francis Crick who co-discovered the DNA structure with 2 other scientists, once proposed this as a possibility at a conference on Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence. He was there with his DNA co-founder Leslie Orgel, the event was chaired by Carl Sagan in Armenia in 1971.
Crick and Orgel were careful to point out that Directed Panspermia was not a certainty; but rather a plausible alternative that ought to be taken seriously. Source Scientific American article By Christian Orlic on January 9, 2013.
In fact this theory is also quite popular among the Ancient Alien crowd as you can get your daily dose of Directed Panspermia in many of the shows episodes.
Even atheist Richard Dawkins is entertaining the idea since the Directed Panspermia theory will allow for intelligent design without a supernatural origin. In the documentary “Expelled” Ben Stein asked that very question to Dawkins – he explained later in an interview –Dawkins: “I patiently explained to him that life could conceivably have been seeded on Earth by an alien intelligence from another planet (Francis Crick and Leslie Orgel suggested something similar — semi tongue-in-cheek). The conclusion I was heading towards was that, even in the highly unlikely event that some such ‘Directed Panspermia’ was responsible for designing life on this planet, the alien beings would THEMSELVES have to have evolved …”
So you may be wondering what does this have to do with the Urantia book – well you may have guessed it, the UB also has this theory embedded in its pages.However they use Life Carriers to do the job. Life Carriers design life forms take, them to planets and stick around to monitor the development. And according to the UB there are 100 million of them in the local universe. The Life Carriers are not creators but catalyst for creation – frankly the process is way to complex and confusing to outline here. It falls in line with the idea that the universe is teeming with life and they are busy planting new life throughout the stars. It says in 2 Tim 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.The Urantia book is one of those myths and it does precisely that. It tells them exactly what they want to hear. The deception is real. The Urantia book is not the first massive work to try and do this.
